Embedded Engineering Services Manager

Position Description:

We have an immediate need for an experienced Embedded Engineering Services Manager to help customers benefit from Vector’s expertise in AUTOSAR, hardware, safety, and project management. You will:

  • Lead, manage, and provide structure to the team to meet customer and Vector requirements. Provide input on personnel decisions, including staffing, training, performance reviews and other feedback as needed.
  • Define project scope, develop proposals and work plans to meet customer technical, delivery, and budget requirements. Identify key milestones and resource needs, including appropriate staffing levels. Identity and manage project risks.
  • Develop new business opportunities for engineering services.
  • Manage multiple customer projects to include full-lifecycle software development, release, deployment and trouble shooting.
  • Proactively initiate communication on critical matters such as project status with Vector management and the customer; and also to develop and maintain positive, long-term, business relationships.
  • Work directly with vehicle developers in the field at OEMs and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve software implementation issues.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of Vector embedded software capabilities and tools, in order to assist sales activities.
  • May perform or provide guidance on a variety of moderately difficult to complex software tasks to develop embedded software code for a variety of electronic control modules according to industry protocols and project requirements.
  • Follow the Quality System to ensure compliance with both Vector and Customer requirements. Recommend process improvements and assist with audits as need.
  • Identify and propose customer training opportunities.



  • 5+ years of progressive experience with embedded system/software project management
  • Previous experience with Vector tools and embedded software is desirable.
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • PMI Certification desirable

Minimum Education Requirements

  • B.S. in EE/SE/CE/CS or related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects. Demonstrated proficiency with effective project management techniques, including defining and planning requirements, resource management, setting and meeting deadlines, etc.
  • Experience in managing complex systems integration projects with multiple partners/vendors.
  • Ability to lead and mentor engineering personnel including providing resources necessary to complete projects/tasks.
  • Strong communication skills including listening, verbal and writing skills
  • Uses a proactive and collaborative approach for managing and problem solving.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a sense of urgency to meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Knowledge of OEM/Tier1 automotive ECU development and testing processes
  • Ability to travel to local and remote customer sites as required (not to exceed 25%)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and facilitation skills to bring issues to resolution.
  • Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems is desirable.
  • Excellent business acumen.
  • Excellent organizational skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
