Between Technology, Strategy and Team Spirit: Constantin’s Job as Director of Product Management
Constantin leads the product management teams of Vector’s Embedded Software & Systems product line. In this interview, he tells us how varied his everyday work is, what challenges him most and why the team spirit at Vector is so special to him.
What is your job?
As Product Management Director I’m responsible for the product management teams of the Embedded Software & Systems product line.
What do you enjoy most about it?
I am enthusiastic about the variety and diversity of my work. On the one hand, I am deeply involved in technical topics, and on the other hand, interaction with colleagues as well as the organization and optimization of processes in a large development organization also play a central role.
What makes working at Vector so special?
Exciting projects, challenges and the opportunity to actively shape progress – and all this in the field of software and IT.
What is your take on team spirit at Vector?
The cooperation is characterized by collegiality and respect. There is a positive working atmosphere where everyone is free to express their ideas and feel valued.
What does the phrase “software-defined vehicles (SDVs)” mean to you?
Software-defined vehicles represent a real paradigm shift in the automotive industry: in the future, the functionalities and characteristics of new vehicle generations will be largely controlled and defined by software.
What challenges you most in your job?
The biggest challenge is to correctly interpret the signals from internal employees as well as external customers and partners – and to draw the right conclusions for the direction of our organization. This is the only way we can develop products that are successful in the long term.
How long will SDVs continue to be relevant to us? And why?
One current central challenge is that the paradigms of the IT industry must fully permeate the development processes of automotive companies. This development is expected to take five to ten years – keeping us busy for a long time to come.
Why did you choose Vector as an employer?
Vector is the ideal size for me: not too small, not too big. Here I can work in a dynamic environment, contribute my skills and at the same time benefit from the resources of an established organization.
