60 New Daycare Places Give Parents Flexibility and Peace of Mind
Finding daycare is not always easy. And on top of this, daycare center opening hours are being reduced. For this reason, ensuring that work is compatible with family life has always been a top priority for Vector. After all, no one should be forced to choose between family and a career.
Since 2011, as many as 20 children of Vector employees have been cared for at the “Stuttgärtchen” daycare center in Stuttgart-Weilimdorf.
But it gets better: the new Vector Kinderhaus is set to open in fall 2024.
It will be able to provide care for no less than 60 additional children at the main site in Stuttgart. Sustainability in the construction methods used and a feel-good atmosphere for children are the main focus of the project. It will be available for 11 hours a day, and will limit the number of days it is closed. A high childcare staffing ratio ensures sufficient time dedicated to the development of each child individually.
Combined with tailored part-time models, freely selectable working hours and work locations, and vacation transfer options, it affords our employees a high degree of flexibility for them to achieve their very own work-and-life model. Take-home lunches for family members and the option of up to 40 vacation days also pay toward this flexibility.

Flexible Childcare Services
Working parents rely on being able to find dependable daycare for their children. The Vector Kinderhaus gives our employees short commutes and a flexible childcare program in a trusting environment. While their little ones discover the nursery world, parents can work with a clear conscience, free of stress and with greater motivation.
Up to 60 children are given attentive care, in two groups of ten children under the age of three and two additional groups of 20 children over the age of three. What’s more, Vector offers up to five weeks of vacation care for three- to eleven-year-olds at its sites under the hands of experienced childcare providers.

Child-Friendly Architecture and Room Layout
As with previous construction projects, Vector is devoting special attention to the topic of sustainability in its company daycare center and is seeking platinum certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The daycare center is being built using a wood-hybrid construction technique. Resource conservation is also achieved in building materials by means of sustainable recycling management. Along with the use of recycled and recoverable materials, the building will use entirely renewable energy sources, such as geothermal and photo-voltaic, in its operation.
Light-filled primary and secondary group rooms with generous window fronts ensure a feel-good atmosphere indoors. In summer, the large glazed doors of the play area can be opened to the outdoor garden, which is naturally shaded by large trees. A variety of thematic areas in the garden create a stimulating and diverse space for play and experience in the fresh air. Among the highlights for the children are the fresh food kitchen with children’s casino and adjoining play kitchen, not to mention the various play havens, which foster the child’s development and creative freedom through their own characteristic room layout.
A Proven Pedagogical Concept by Kinderhut
Pedagogical responsibility is assumed by the independent organization Kinderhut, which operates another facility in Stuttgart besides the Stuttgärtchen daycare center. The collaboration provides employees at Vector Informatik with modern childcare services in a unique play-and-learn environment. The pedagogical approach is based on elements from Montessori and Pikler pedagogy as well as Marte Meo. The daily routine within the daycare center takes place in repeated rituals. This gives the children security and confidence in everyday life. The program also includes cross-group activities.
