Children Discover the World of Programming During Code Week

Vector once again took part in the Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria Code Week by holding programming workshops for children between the ages of 10 and 14. The young inventors built small robots with the Calliope mini and programmed games such as “Rock, Paper, Scissors” and “Catching Drops”.

Programming took place in the form of block-based programming, allowing the children to get started very quickly and letting their creativity run free without having to master a programming language straight away. They were able to work intuitively and find out just how much fun programming really is.

The Calliope workshop was run by Vector employees and held in Baden-Württemberg in Vector Academy’s training rooms.

We were impressed to see just how much the children managed to implement themselves and how they felt challenged when solving programming tasks. But the best thing of all was seeing their genuine enthusiasm and how proud they were of their own successes! It is a great honor to accompany and support this process!

Vector is committed to inspiring young people in the STEM field at school by means of numerous initiatives and sponsored projects, including the likes of projects in the Knowledge Factory such as “KiTec – Children Discover Technology”, “Power4School – Students Discover Energy” and “IT2School – Discovering IT Together”.

Hundreds of people and initiatives throughout Europe get involved in Code Week every fall to help inspire an enthusiasm for the digital world in children and young people.
