Vector Campus: A Showcase Project for Sustainability
Here at our Vector Campus in Stuttgart, we have consistently brought together ecology, economy and the well-being of our employees in a unified vision. Our buildings in Stuttgart combine ecology, economy and employee well-being. They have been awarded distinction by the state of Baden-Württemberg as best practice and sustainability role models.
Two buildings received platinum certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for sustainable design and the DGNB diamond for outstanding architecture. In 2017, the main building was the first building in the world to be allowed to receive both awards at the same time.
- Our wins across 20,000 m2: 70% less natural gas consumption thanks to geothermal and solar thermal energy

6 Actions We Are Taking to Shape the Future
- Solar energy: our PV system produces around 147 MWh of green electricity annually. The hot water comes from 120 m2 of solar thermal collectors.
- Geothermal energy: with one of the largest geothermal fields in Germany, 68 geothermal probes extract energy directly from the ground and use heat pumps to ensure the right climate in the building.
- Green spaces: green roofs and outdoor spaces promote biodiversity and the well-being of our teams.
- Mobility concept: our campus is well connected for e-cars, trains and bicycles. Our colleagues can charge their electric cars on us!
- Sustainable materials: Cobiax ceilings and sustainably selected building materials ensured greater resource efficiency during construction. The result: 7,000 m3 less concrete – saving up to a third.
- Energy efficiency: our ventilation systems recover up to 83% of the heat from the exhaust air, supported by smart building control.
