Vector Consistently Reduces and Avoids CO2 Emissions – for You, for the Environment, for All of Us

From the solar system on ecologically sustainable buildings to the use of geothermal energy for heating and cooling, green electricity in data centers and e-cars, regional food in catering, and employee subsidies for the use of public transportation: Vector does all of this out of deep conviction in the spirit of sustainability, for each individual employee and for the environment. And not just since today, by the way. Ever since its foundation over 30 years ago, Vector has had the goal of acting as resource-sparing as possible.

Based on a reporting system first applied in 2019, Vector's CO2 balance per capita can be calculated and presented. All consumer goods are converted into CO2 equivalents using a standardized procedure. Accordingly, each Vectorian produces just 0.1 tons of CO2 per year. By comparison, an average of 155 kg of CO2 is emitted during an 800 km drive in a mid-range car. According to this, one year of working at Vector is already more CO2-friendly than a holiday trip by car. Not surprisingly. After all, Vector has been investing large sums of money in the ecologically reasonable construction and adaptation of new buildings for decades and plans them with high demands on itself down to the smallest detail. The effect: The office buildings create a real feel-good atmosphere for the employees and at the same time reduce everything that is used for heat and power supply. The IT company founded by engineers also benefits from a certain play instinct of the Vectorians when trying out, implementing and applying new technologies. For example, Vector uses geothermal energy or cooling in the buildings, but also energy-saving LED lighting, presence detectors for automatic light switching and standby power savings by switching off circuits at closing times. Meeting the ecological challenges is technically exciting and, on top of that, has a positive effect on the environmental balance.

Electric cars and solar power are environmentally friendly

We are committed to environmental management and we take it very seriously with all our employees. When it comes to business travel, we have also been using a sense of proportion for years. At Vector, the basic rule is: Whether by train, plane or company car - the CO2 emissions are fully compensated.

Every Vectorian can contribute his or her ideas via a special portal. The implementation status can be viewed at any time - everything is transparent. Thus, a wide range of individual measures and projects can be controlled, which contribute to resource-saving and sustainable action on site.
