Vector Talk – From Startup To Successful IT Company and Back!
On July 27, we took the software developers of tomorrow on an exciting journey through time at our first Vector Talk from Firestarter: From 3 to 3,300 in 33 years! And how Vector has preserved and expanded its original values and culture.
This virtual event was all about the founding of Vector over 33 years ago, when in 1988 three friends turned their hobby of “tinkering about with microcomputers” into a profession and founded an engineering company; why we are currently supporting startups together with Gründermotor, and what the development of charging and load management software by our corporate startup OECS is all about! A foray through the past, the present and a look into the future. Did you miss the event? Watch the Vector Talk on YouTube now!

Dr. Helmut Schelling, founder and benefactor, and Raoul Ghit, master’s degree candidate, started off the interview. Dr. Helmut Schelling has been with the company for 33 years and co-founded Vector, Raoul Ghit has been with Vector since the beginning of his studies. Both therefore have a very unique view of the company, the values and how much startup is still in Vector. But take a look for yourself 2:50.

On the topic Vector and Gründermotor “External startups and companies – a WIN-WIN situation”, Peter Guse, Senior Manager Business Development OECS, and Ann-Sophie Härle, master’s degree candidate, showed us the many benefits generated by the collaboration of companies with startups, on the basis of a case study at Vector. In doing so, they provided recommendations on how to generate these benefits on a long-term basis: 36:36.

The series of presentations was concluded by Dirk Großmann, Senior Manager Development OECS, with an insight into “The Vector Way of Corporate Startup”. How does a corporate startup work? Vector has founded an internal startup, Offboard Electric Charging Solutions (OECS), to open up a new business segment. Why are we doing this? How are we doing it and, above all, what are we doing and how does it relate to electromobility? See 56:52.
Afterwards, it was time for networking. Here, developers, students and colleagues from the Human Resources department exchanged ideas with the event participants about their tasks and all aspects of starting a career in eight different areas!
